Painting Under Open Skies: The Story Behind “The Crescent Dropped”

Updated: Jul 14

There’s something deeply transformative about painting outdoors. For “The Crescent Dropped”, I set up my easel in the garden, surrounded by the sound of rustling leaves and soft summer light.

This piece reflects my fascination with horizons—the place where earth meets sky in a quiet tension. I layered rich acrylic textures to create a sense of movement and depth, and finished with a serpentine line of gold leaf to represent a river of light uniting the two realms.

The process was almost meditative: brush in hand, birdsong overhead, the scent of grass carried by the wind. It felt like the painting itself was breathing, alive.

Gold leaf always adds a touch of magic. Here, it acts as a luminous thread—delicate, yet powerful.

I invite you to watch the making of “The Crescent Dropped” in my latest video and feel the energy of creation under open skies.
