Welcome back to my creative corner! Today, I’m excited to share a sneak peek of my latest illustration for a personal children’s book project that’s been bringing so much joy to my heart. I’ve always been drawn to both abstract fine art and the world of cute, whimsical illustrations. While I often delve into abstract textures and expressions, there’s something magical about bringing sweet, imaginative characters to life in traditional styles—like the one I’m sharing with you today.
I’ve always been inspired by classic illustrators such as Beatrix Potter and John Tenniel, whose timeless works combine storytelling with beautiful, delicate details. Their ability to weave charming narratives with intricate illustrations continues to influence my own journey. Like them, I enjoy working with traditional media, especially watercolor, which has a soft, organic quality that brings such life to my characters.
In this particular piece, I’m painting Daisy Duck—dressed as if she just stepped out of Pride and Prejudice—sitting by her porch, carving pumpkins for Halloween. I love combining the whimsy of classic children's characters with elegant period costumes. There's something so fun about reimagining these beloved figures in different eras and situations.
You’ll see the brushstrokes come to life as Daisy’s delicate bonnet takes shape, and the warm autumn colors of the pumpkins and leaves glow on the page. This blend of elegance, fun, and a hint of seasonal festivity is what makes this project so exciting for me.
Stay tuned as I continue to bring these stories to life—one whimsical scene at a time!
