Sun-Painted Flowers: An Afternoon That Became a Painting

I painted this piece in the garden — not because it was a “plein air” session, but because the colors wouldn’t wait. The sun was high, the lemonade was cold (from lemons off my own tree), and there was no pressure — just the need to move paint across canvas until something joyful appeared.

Sun-Painted Flowers is not about flowers, really. It’s about light. About being alive in a moment that asks nothing of you except to look, feel, and move with it. I didn’t sketch. I didn’t correct. I dropped the finished piece in the grass like another blossom. And it felt perfect. The colors are wild, impulsive, and warm. The texture is thick and honest. The whole thing hums with a kind of permission to bloom without needing to explain it. If your home needs a piece that feels like sunlight you can touch — Sun-Painted Flowers is it.
