šŸŽØ Where Remembrance Grows — A Textured, Mixed Media Painting Inspired by Nature and Memory

ree

Watch the processĀ behind Where Remembrance Grows, a multilayered abstract paintingĀ that developed over time through a slow, intuitive, and deeply tactile approach. Combining natural materials, gestural mark-making, and experimental mixed media techniques, this piece is a reflection on memory, transformation, and the traces nature leaves behind.

The painting began with a physical interaction with nature: the direct application of real grapevine leavesĀ onto the surface. Once removed, these leaves left behind organic silhouettes and ghost-like impressions, setting the stage for what would become a landscape of residue.

Using acrylic paint, sand, a piece of rope, and several layers of pigment, I allowed the painting to evolve over multiple sessions. Techniques such as action painting, water spray to dissolve edges, paper stamping, and transparent glazingĀ helped me build a surface that feels alive — rich with history, texture, and atmosphere.

The resulting color palette — lush greens, muted violets, and earthy neutrals — was inspired by the tones of a vineyard, yet the image is far from representational. Instead, the work captures the feeling of a vineyard remembered, not seen: a place you once passed through, now blurred by time.

This abstract mixed media paintingĀ speaks to the idea of presence and disappearance, of growth and erosion. It captures the quiet moments when nature recedes, but its mark remains — a visual meditation on impermanence.
